Lylen Ferris, ND

Lylen Ferris, ND attended Davidson College in North Carolina where she obtained a BA in Cultural Anthropology and a minor in art history. After travelling extensively and witnessing different cultures and ways of thinking, Dr. Ferris realized naturopathic medicine was her calling. She completed her pre-medical training in Australia and returned to the United States to attend medical school at the National College of Natural Medicine (now NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, where she trained as a general practitioner and tailored her studies to focus on women’s health.  

Her love of teaching began during her advanced women’s health residency, where she taught clinical education and gynecology classes while mentoring students. Dr. Ferris has continued to teach other medical professionals in the US and around the globe at numerous functional medicine conferences, online webinars, and seminars. Dr. Ferris offers a deep knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching hormone and neurotransmitter biochemistry, including research, testing, and optimization.  

Dr. Ferris is Director of Clinical Education at Doctor’s Data, where she leads a team of physicians focusing on educating practitioners worldwide on hormone and neurotransmitter testing and optimization. She also maintains a clinical practice in Portland, Oregon and her focus has grown to include males and females of all ages. 


Julia Malkowski, ND, DC

Dr. Julia Malkowski enjoys empowering individuals via "docere"; to teach, to delight and to move. Upon experiencing the excellent results of restoring the health of her infant son, Dr. Malkowski began her career in Functional Medicine. Dr. Malkowski graduated with a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in December 2017, with advanced standing, and a doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine in April 2016 from National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Malkowski has presented at Autism One, International College of Integrative Medicine (ICIM), the Institute of Women’s Health and Integrative Medicine (IWHIM) and The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). Deanna Minich, PhD

Dr. Deanna Minich, PhD, MS, CNS, IFMCP, is an internationally recognized nutrition scientist, educator, and speaker with over 25 years of experience in academia, clinical practice, and the nutraceutical industry. She holds a Master’s in Nutrition & Dietetics and a Doctorate in Medical Science, and has authored seven books, over 50 scientific papers, and multiple book chapters. A Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, she spent a decade working with Dr. Jeffrey Bland and now serves as Chief Science Officer at Symphony Natural Health, where she leads scientific strategy and medical education for plant-derived nutraceuticals.

Dr. Minich continues to teach for The Institute for Functional Medicine, where she has been on faculty since 2013, and instructs a graduate-level course in metabolic detoxification at the University of Western States. Her expertise spans melatonin, circadian biology, aging, hormonal transitions, and the role of nutrition and lifestyle in whole-person health. Mark Tager, MD

Dr. Mark J. Tager is a physician, educator, and entrepreneur who bridges the worlds of functional, regenerative, and aesthetic medicine. As CEO of ChangeWell Inc., he trains clinicians to create thriving, patient-centered practices that integrate internal health and external beauty. 

He has developed numerous training courses for health-related companies and associations including the 40-hour CME program on Personalized Nutrition for Practitioners for the American Nutrition Association. He speaks at many of the US and International meetings in functional medicine and aesthetics. Dr. Tager is the co-founder (along with Peter Staats, MD) of the Vagus Nerve Society (VNSociety.org) and host of the Healing Journeys documentary series.  

His most recent book is Integrative Aesthetics: Your Roadmap to Practice Growth. It is the business-based accompaniment to Feed Your Skin Right: Your Personalized Nutrition Plan for Radiant Beauty and the 10-hr online Inside Skin Beauty professional training program.

Lara Zakaria, PharmD, MS, CDN, CNS, IFMCP

Dr Lara Zakaria is a Pharmacist, Nutritionist, and adjunct professor specializing in Functional Medicine and Personalized nutrition. She began her career in pharmacy community practice, noticing that her patients' chronic conditions were advancing - and year-to-year accumulating new diagnoses and a longer list of medications - instead of getting healthier. This was the “aha moment” that led her to FxMed and the power of nutrition. Dr Zakaria is passionate about prevention and reversal of metabolic, allergic, and autoimmune disease. She splits her time between clinical practice, teaching, and mentorship in service of expanding awareness and access to FxMed and Personalized Nutrition.
